CSA has been described as a "game changer" for the trucking industry, perhaps one of the biggest changes in trucking regulation in 25 years. CSA is designed to score each individual driver on their safety performance as determined by a complex calculation that is derived from the roadside inspections and associated violations of each and every CDL holding driver in America.

The performance of drivers is rolled up and becomes a CSA Carrier Score that can have an impact on the ability of the Employer/Contract Carrier to secure freight from its customers and even whether they are allowed to continue to operate. Carriers are very focused on the drivers who help and hurt their scores.
